Marinette & Menominee Amateur Radio Club
Regular Monthly Meeting Minutes
Thursday July 14, 2022
Meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm at inVenture North in Marinette by club president Steve Mellenthin, K9STT.
Motion to approve the June meeting minutes was made by Bruce Conover, N9CON and seconded by Paul Sorensen, NS8V. The motion was accepted and carried.
Treasures Report: K9STT reported a balance at the end of June of $6,046.74.
Correspondence: Letters from A.J. Pawlowski, KB7KZ to the club president and responses from the board and K9STT were read.
Committee Reports
Property Report: N9CON reported all club property is on the inventory except for five items left from the Floyd Croy donation.
ARES Report: Mike Lemke, KD8FUE reported the radio room at the ISD building in Menominee is going to be moved to new located in the building. ARES members will need to get together to move the radios and route the antenna lines into the new location. Tom Philipps is trying to get a new generator for the communications trailer on a grant. Tom Philipps asked that we display our trailer at National Night Out in Stephenson, MI on August 2nd. The group is working on a presentation to the Menominee County Board to inform them about who we are and what we can do for the county.
Fundraiser Report: K9STT reported the Logging & Heritage Festival fundraiser didn’t make a lot of money for the amount of work. The profit was about $407 from the event.
DAR report: K9STT announced this was going to be his last season at the DAR. Starting this fall, we will need a 2nd volunteer for about 2 hours on Tuesday and Thursday to keep the program going.
Yacht Report: Ed Engleman, KG8CX reported they added 50 young hams and about 12 adult members since the first of the year. There are members on a DXpedition.
Webmaster Report: K9STT reported everything is current and going well.
ARRL Report: Current with ARRL.
An amplifier for the club’s 444.075 Fusion repeater was again discussed. Motion to purchase an amplifier for the 444.075 was made by KG8CX and seconded by N9CON. The motion was accepted and carried.
Jim Callow, K8IR was aware of someone with pneumatic telescoping mast, brand new in the box, for sale. It extends from 9 feet to 30 feet. Motion to purchase the pneumatic mast for the communications trailer was made by N9CON and seconded by Tim Mellenthin, WN6KHG. The motion was accepted and carried.
Volunteers are needed for the DAR radio room this fall.
There is still some radio equipment left to sell from the Floyd Croy donation. Let K9STT know if you would be able to assist selling this equipment, possibly on Ebay.
Old Business
Repeater expansion: Nothing new to report at this time. Still waiting on Menominee County.
Club Picnic: KD8FUE volunteered to be the chair of the picnic committee. Volunteers will be needed to help with gathering supplies and setting up.
Announcements
No club meeting in August. Next meeting will be in September.
Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by N9CON and seconded by NS8V. The motion was accepted and carried. Meeting ended at 7:56 pm.
