Marinette & Menominee Amateur Radio Club
Regular Monthly Meeting Minutes
Thursday March 11, 2021
Meeting was called to order at 7:03 pm at Brothers Three Restaurant in Marinette by club President Steve Mellenthin, K9STT.
Motion to approve the February meeting minutes was made by Bruce Conover, N9CON and seconded by Pete Johnson, AB9PJ. The motion was accepted and carried.
Treasures Report: Club treasurer Mike Lemke, KD8FUE reported a balance of $4,722.42
Repeater Report: AB9PJ reported both the 147.000 and the 444.075 have been working well except for the noise issue with the 147.000 on windy days. There are plans to climb the tower and repair the jumper on club’s antenna as soon as the weather cooperates.
Webmaster Report: K9STT reported he has been doing some minor updates to the website. The website is due for a big update in the next week or so.
ARRL Report: K9STT reported we are current and in good standing with ARRL.
Education and Training: Doug Dooley, KD8OVR reported that we still getting a few inquiries from the web. He will be checking with the library and NWTC to see if there have been any changes that would allow the club to hold ham radio classes at those location again in the near future.
HAT Team: Eric Janssen, KG9GH reported he has a request from a HAM in Kellnersville to remove a large HF log periodic antenna from the top of a tower. The team could use people who are interested in climbing towers.
Board Meeting: The club board met over the air on February, 24th. Topics of discussion were liability insurance, fundraising opportunities, wish lists, club social outings, and the membership recruitment letter was accepted.
Old Business
Changes to the liability insurance carrier has been tabled for now.
The membership letters have been mailed and to date we have gained 6 new members and a couple of renewals.
Char Conover was nominated by the election committee to fill the vacant At Large Board Member. No additional nominations. Char was approved by unanimous vote to fill the position.
New Business
Cynthia Patterson, W9CYN thanked VE’s Jim Callow, K8IR, Noel Beardsley, K8NB and Doug Dooley, KD8OVR for conducting a testing session for her on February 18th, where she successfully passed her Extra class exam. Congratulations Cynthia!
Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by N9CON and seconded by Tim Mellenthin, WN6KHG. The motion was accepted and carried. Meeting ended at 7:29 pm.
