Regular Monthly Meeting Minutes

Thursday November 9, 2023

 

Meeting was called to order at 7:13 pm at inVenture North in Marinette by club president Jim Callow, K8IR.

Motion to approve the October meeting minutes was made by Mike Lemke, KD8FUE and seconded by Dan Nyman, W9DLN. The motion was accepted and carried.

Treasures Report: KD8FUE reported a balance at the end of October of $7,188.11. Motion to approve the treasurers report was made by Tim Mellenthin, WN6KHG and seconded by Doug Dooley, KD8OVR. The motion was accepted and carried.

Correspondence: KD8FUE still has three UP HAM directories available for the cost of $10 each if anyone is interested.

Committee Reports

ARES Report: KD8FUE reported work is continuing on the communications trailer. The group participated in a SET from the annex building station and were able to clearly communicate with Lansing using a telescopic mast and wire antenna – a big improvement over the roof mounted antenna.

Fundraiser Report: Nothing to report

Yacht Report: Ed Engleman, KG8CX reported the group is doing well.

ARRL/Webmaster Report: No report

Election Committee: No report

New Business

Holiday Party: A discussion was held on a location and menu for the holiday party. KD8FUE will check on locations and prices and lock in a location.

 

Ham Radio Classes: KD8OVR would like to hold a technician class again this winter. Contact Doug if you would like to help as an instructor.

 

Old Business

UHF Amp: No update

Communications Trailer: The telescopic antenna mast has been installed and we should be able to pick up the trailer soon.

DAR: The radio equipment has been removed from the radio room. The antennas and mounts will need to be removed before the new roof is installed.

Rag Net: W9DLN reported on the check-ins for the first few weeks of the 75 meter net.

Announcements

W9DLN reported the results of Field Day. The club station ranked 190 out of 1082 class 2A stations that operated. Specifically in Michigan, the club station ranked #6 for class 2 stations and 17 out of all 136 stations that participated.

K8IR will not be able to attend the next 3 meetings

Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by KD8FUE and seconded by Shannon Lefebvre, KD9RYZ. The motion was accepted and carried. Meeting ended at 7:52 pm.
