Regular Monthly Meeting Minutes

Thursday April 13, 2023

 

Meeting was called to order at 7:02 pm at inVenture North in Marinette by club president Jim Callow, K8IR.

Motion to approve the March meeting minutes was made by Steve Mellenthin, K9STT and seconded by Dan Nyman, W9DLN. The motion was accepted and carried.

Correspondence: None

Treasures Report: Mike Lemke, KD8FUE reported a balance at the end of March of $6,888.62.

Committee Reports

ARES Report: KD8FUE there will be an ARES meeting Saturday at the ISD building in Menominee. The new generator for the communications tailer has been received and is in the trailer.

Fundraiser Report: KD8FUE is starting to plan a brat fry at Gary’s in Wallace Memorial Day weekend.

Yacht Report: Ed Engleman, KG8CX reported 19 new members in 2023, three adults and 16 youth.

Education/Training: Doug Dooley, KD8OVR reported classes and testing has taken place and resulted in two new hams being licensed.

ARRL/Webmaster Report: K9STT reported we are current with ARRL and the web is running fine.

New Business

Field Day: The Club is planning to participate in Field Day June 24-25 at the same location as previous years. W9DLN will be Field Day Chair. There was discussion on stations, antennas and setup.

 

Honorary Lifetime Members: K9STT suggested making Lloyd and Gayle Gomez, W9LEG and W9GCG Honorary Lifetime Members for all they have contributed the club over the years. Motion to make Lloyd and Gayle Honorary Lifetime Members was made by K9STT and seconded by KG8CX. The motion was accepted and carried.

 

Old Business

UHF Amp: K9STT has talked with Jim Swanson, KC8DOA about the amp. No updates at this time

Picnic Reservation: K8IR has reserved pavilion #1 at Henes Park for Sunday August 13th.

Picnic Committee: Contact K8IR if you would like to volunteer for the picnic committee.

Announcements

K9STT is working on a brochure to mail out to Marinette and Oconto County hams to build interest in ARES.

Tom Philipps announced that National Night Out will be held in Powers, MI sometime in July and would like the club to attend with the communications trailer again this year.

Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by K9STT and seconded by Paul Sorensen, NS8V. The motion was accepted and carried. Meeting ended at 7:49 pm
