Regular Monthly Meeting Minutes

Thursday April 10, 2025

 

Meeting was called to order at 7:01 pm at inVenture North in Marinette by club President Jim Callow, K8IR.

Motion to approve the March meeting minutes was made by Mike Charnota, KE9ABI and seconded by Tim Mellenthin, Wn6KHG. The motion was accepted and carried.

Treasures Report: NS8V reported the income and expenditures for the past month. The ending balance for the month of March was $7,183.87. Doug Dooley, KD8OVR suggested looking into a money market account for the club’s savings. Motion to accept the treasures report was made by KE9ABI and seconded by WN6KHG. The motion was accepted and carried.

Correspondence: Connie Judd, KE9ALV passed along a number of flyers for upcoming swap meets.

Committee Reports

ARES Report: Robert Juhlin, W8AWF reported the spring SET is planned for May 3rd. The focus will be on testing the group’s PACE plan as well as communication with the SEOC, adjacent counties, and Winlink communications.

Fundraiser: Mike Lemke, KD8FUE reported nothing is planned at this time.

Yacht Report: Ed EnglemanKG8CX reported the group has added 20 new members this year.  Their Saturday net is well attended, and a number of the members are good at CW.

ARRL/Webmaster Report: No report.

Old Business

Field Day: KD8FUE will contact the Jones family to see if we can use their field again this year.

WIRES-X: KD8FUE was able to configure the node to disconnect from WIRES-X rooms automatically when inactive.

Bicycle Tour: No update

Escanaba Link: No update.

Summer Picnic: The picnic is set for Sunday August 3rd at Pavillion 1 in Henes Park.

Dry Erase Board:  KD8OVR hasn’t heard back from Ashley at InVenture, he will reach back out to her.

New Business

Menominee County Radio System:  Tom Philipps, Menominee County Emergency Management Coordinator, reported the County Board has voted to decommission their VHF radio system.  He will provide us with a list of surplus radio equipment that will become available.

Announcements: WN6KHG has an Icom 7300 HF radio for sale.

Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by NS8V and seconded KG8CX. The motion was accepted and carried. Meeting ended at 7:43 pm.
