Regular Monthly Meeting Minutes

Thursday March 13, 2025

 

Meeting was called to order at 7:01 pm at inVenture North in Marinette by club President Jim Callow, K8IR.

Motion to approve the February meeting minutes was made by Tim Mellenthin, WN6KHG and seconded by Paul Sorensen, NS8V. The motion was accepted and carried.

Treasures Report: NS8V reported the income and expenditures for the past month. The ending balance for the month of February was $7,074.07. NS8V also reported the fixed cost per Square transaction went up from $0.10 to $0.15. Motion to accept the treasures report was made by Doug Dooley, KD8OVR and seconded by Ed Engleman KG8CX. The motion was accepted and carried.

Correspondence: Connie Judd, KE9ALV is coordinating an amateur radio picnic for May 10, 2025 at BayShore Park 5637 Sturgeon Bay Rd, New Franken WI on May 10th from 10 am to 4 pm. M&M ARC members are welcome to attend.

Marinette County Breakfast on the Farm will be held on June 22nd, a week before Field Day this year.

The company we purchased the communications trailer mast parts from is looking for a copy of our tax exempt certificate.  KD8OVR will take care of getting them the information.

Committee Reports

ARES Report: Robert Juhlin, W8AWF had nothing new to report. The ARES net is held Sunday evening at 8:30 pm.

Fundraiser: Nothing new to report.

Yacht Report: KG8CX reported the group recently gained a new member from Washington.  Year to date the group has added 11 new members.

ARRL/Webmaster Report: No report.

Old Business

Technician Class: KD8OVR reported everyone passed their exam at the VE session the day prior, three new technicians and Mike Sobeck, KD9IGW upgraded to general.  Congratulations everyone!

Repeater: John Goldschmidt, N9GLT reported Mike Lemke, KD8FUE to correct an issue with our WIRES-X node configuration so we can completely disconnect from WIRES-X rooms when they are not actively being used. It was suggested we KD8FUE look into a setting that would automatically disconnect the repeater from WIRES-X when the system is idle in case someone forgets to disconnect after they have finished using it.

Bicycle Tour: No update

Escanaba Link: No updates.

Summer Picnic: K8IR reported the picnic is set for Sunday August 3rd at Pavillion 1 in Henes Park. Pavillion rent increased to $85 this year.

Dry Erase Board:  KD8OVR hasn’t heard back from Ashley at InVenture.

Communications Trailer:  No update on the future of the ISD building.  The trailer is being stored at KD8FUE’s house.

 

New Business

Field Day:  Field Day will be held the last weekend of June. KD8FUE will contact the Jones family to see if we can use their field again this year.

May Meeting:  K8IR will be on vacation, W8AWF will be available to run the needing.

Announcements: None

Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by KD8FUE and seconded NS8V. The motion was accepted and carried. Meeting ended at 7:33 pm.
