Regular Monthly Meeting Minutes

Thursday April 8, 2021

 

Meeting was called to order at 7:03 pm at inVenture North in Marinette by club president Steve Mellenthin, K9STT.

Motion to approve the March meeting minutes was made by Bruce Conover, N9CON and seconded by Tim Mellenthin, WN6KHG. The motion was accepted and carried.

Treasures Report: Club treasurer Mike Lemke, KD8FUE reported a balance of $5,292.09

Correspondence: Arde Nelson, KA9WAR suggest by email that the club participate at the Peshtigo Historical Days/150th anniversary of the Peshtigo Fire event. K9STT is checking into it.

Repeater Report: Pete Johnson, AB9PJ reported the 444.075 has been changed out to the new Yaesu Fusion repeater with both analog and Fusion digital capabilities. The new repeater is also connected to WIRES-X. There are plans to climb the Rangeline Road tower and repair the jumper on club’s 147.000 antenna soon.

Education and Training: Doug Dooley, KD8OVR reported he is still getting occasional request for licensing information and HAM radio classes. He has kept a list of emails for everyone that has contacted him and will contact them when we do offer classes or exams.

Property Report: N9CON is working on putting together a new property report. He has collected the information on our UHF equipment and will need to get out to Rangeline Road to collect the information on our 2 meter equipment.

ARES Report: KD8FUE reported the group participated in an exercise, using the Menominee county EOC, since the last meeting. They are working through antenna issues at that location. Tom Philipps reported there may be an opportunity to use vacant rooms at the current facility to set up a permanent radio station.

Trailer Report: KD8OVR and KD8FUE the exterior of the trailer was repaired last year and a list of needed items has been compiled. Interior retrofitting now needs to be completed.

Fundraiser Report: KD8FUE has scheduled a brat and hamburger sale at Jack’s Fresh Market in Menominee for Saturday, May 1st. Volunteers will be needed that day. He is also working on brat and hamburger sale fundraisers at Walmart, Lee’s in Peshtigo, and Gary’s in Wallace. K9STT is selling caps and mugs with the club logo on them for $10 each and mugs customized with your name and callsign for $15 each. They can be order off the club website or by contacting K9STT directly. WN6KHG is selling Emergency communications buttons for a $5 donation each with proceeds going to support communication trailer projects.

DAR report: K9STT and KD9FUE reported the DAR radio room is open again. The kids are making contracts using WIRES-X over the clubs new Yaesu Fusion repeater.

Webmaster Report: K9STT reported the club website is back up and running after a major update caused some issues.

ARRL Report: K9STT has been in contact with the ARRL and we are current and in good standing.

New Business

Funding is needed to begin interior work on the emergency communications trailer. Motion to spend up to $500 of club funds on the trailer was made by KD8OVR and seconded by Jim Callow, K8IR. The motion was accepted and carried.

K9STT created a brochure for the club that can be handed out when asking for donations. Motion to approve using the brochure was made by WN6KHG and seconded by AB9PJ. The motion was accepted and carried.

K9STT has set up a database to replace the spreadsheet the club was using to keep track of membership information.

K9STT will check with ARRL to see if Field Day is going to go on as in past years before we start planning the event.

N9CON reported Breakfast on the Farm will happen this year on Sunday, June 22nd at the Hartwig Farm in the Town of Grover near Hartwig Rd and Town Hall Rd. He will need club members to volunteer to do parking at the event.

Old Business

The club was updated on the membership recruitment letter by KD8FUE. $569.62 in membership dues were collected since last month’s meeting.

Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by N9CON and seconded by Paul Sorensen, NS8V. The motion was accepted and carried. Meeting ended at 8:04 pm.
