regular meeting for March takes place on Thursday the 14th. However, it
will be preceded by a Skywarn training update session. The session will
begin at 6PM, in the cafeteria of BAMC Menominee. A meteorologist
from the Green Bay NWS office will present the session. All members are
encouraged to attend and take part in this very important meeting. The
regular club meeting will begin around 7:30pm, and be a short one, so everyone
should be out by 8pm or shortly thereafter. The February club meeting was held on the 14th with only 10 members in
attendance. Because of that, no official business could be conducted, as
we need a minimum of 14 to hold an official meeting.
members and guests are invited to attend the March 15, 2002 fish fry to be
held at Berg's Chop House, US 41, Peshtigo.
Cocktails will be at 5:30, with dinner at 6:30.
Orders will be taken from the bar as members arrive.

the evening was the presentation of a special recognition certificate to Jim,
AA9PB, by Don Michalski, in honor of Jim's QRP DXCC completion. The look
of surprise on Jim's face attested to the unexpected
nature of the award.
Many happy returns to W8HKY, age 101! ARRL member Mike Anuta, W8HKY, of
Marinette, Wisconsin, remains active on VHF and UHF at the age of 101 and
regularly participates in club nets. Anuta, who's quite possibly the League's
oldest member, celebrated his 101st birthday February 4. The ARRL sent special
greetings to Anuta when he attained centenarian status in 2001. He was first
licensed as WN8HKY in 1952 during the early days of the Novice program. ARRL
Wisconsin Section Manager Don Michalski, W9IXG, said he visited W8HKY at the

club for their efforts in bringing area youngsters into the hobby,"
Michalski said. "He's an inspiration to everyone!"
THE ARRL LETTER 3/1/02
* Wisconsin SM urges hams to push for governor's signature: Wisconsin Section Manager Don Michalski, W9IXG, is calling on amateurs in his section to urge Gov Scott McCallum to sign AB368, the Amateur Radio FCC PRB-1 Amateur Radio Antenna Protection Act. "If you have not sent a letter or e-mail to his office supporting AB368, please do so now!" Michalski said this week. He said McCallum's recent comments on emergency preparedness and public safety offer an opportunity to remind the governor that amateurs "are in concert with the governor's efforts to back our emergency services, and that we amateurs provide a valuable, free service" in supporting emergency response efforts. Once the measure reaches the governor's desk, he'll have until the end of April to sign the legislation. Additional information on AB368 is on the Wisconsin legislative Web site <http://www.legis.state.wi.us> (under "2001 Legislative Activity" click on "Enrolled Bills" and then on "Enrolled AB368" at the left).
