We will gather at Cramer’s Vernon Hills Golf Course off Highway 41
south of Peshtigo between 5 and 6pm to place our orders and socialize.

IT’S THAT TIME OF THE YEAR AGAIN…
A
reminder that it’s now time to pay your dues for the new club year.
Individual memberships are $15, and family memberships are $22.50. You
can send your checks to PO Box 1082, Marinette, WI 54143, or pay at a meeting.
The deadline for paying dues is December 31st.
THAT WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR…
Believe
it or not, the Christmas season is not that far away, and plans are already
being made for the annual Christmas Party, which will be held Thursday,
December 11th at Schussler’s in Peshtigo. One change being
planned is to offer selected items off the menu, rather than the family style
dining we have done in the past. Additional
details will be discussed at the October club meeting, and a reservation form
will appear in the November newsletter.
MINUTES OF THE M&M AMATEUR RADIO CLUB MEETING OF
SEPTEMBER 11, 2003
The September meeting of the M&M Amateur Radio
Club was called to order by Pres. Jim Callow at 7:02pm at our new location in
Spies Public Library, Menominee. Thanks to Val Hallam, KC8WAI for
securing the meeting room at the library. Guests introduced were Dave
Thomas, and Lee Bane, W0FAX. Members in attendance also introduced
themselves to the guests.
The minutes as printed were approved. Treasurer's report from Lynne showed a total balance of $724.85.
President Jim discussed a message from ARRL on BPL (Broadband over Power Lines) They are looking for affiliated clubs to consider sending a contribution to fight this threat. Jim briefly explained the BPL situation, and indicated he had an ARRL video on his laptop that very effectively illustrates the extreme threat to the ham bands. This will be shown after the meeting. After some discussion on how the club could help out, a motion was made by Bob, K8RJ that we contribute 5% of the amount in the treasury. The second was made by Earl, KB9DSV. Motion was approved by the membership to send that amount to ARRL to fight the BPL threat.
Ed reported that both club repeaters are working well. The "pulsing" noise on the 147 has apparently disappeared. A comment about a move of the 147 back to our original spot on KC8DOA's tower was made. No new information is available at this time.
Bill, WA8WG reported on the Wausaukee/Abrams repeater link project. The Wausaukee repeater is now on a frequency of 146.880. Everything is in place except the Wausaukee controller on the north end. Pending some work on Earl, KB9DSV's tower and installation of the 440 link antenna, the system will be operational soon. Bill also discussed some minor antenna orientation concerns with the Wausaukee site, and corrective action.
Lynne, N8OSK reported on an upcoming Michigan ARES exercise for Oct. 4 from 8am to 1pm CST Details will not be made public until the actual exercise. All ARES members are encouraged to participate if they are able.
Lynne presented a new member application from Jim Pearson, the leader of the Menominee Co. Mounted Search and Rescue group. He is currently studying for his Technician license.. Other members of that group have also expressed interest in getting their licenses as well. Bill, WA8WG mentioned he knows of a person interested in getting a ham ticket. Because of recent interest, we will work on getting a ham license class organized soon. Several members indicated they would help in teaching the class.
K8RJ moved, seconded by WA8WG that we accept Jim Pearson's membership application. It was approved by the membership present.
The annual club Christmas party was mentioned. No location has been made so far. It is usually held in lieu of our Dec. meeting on the 2nd Thursday. N8OSK suggested that the new officers appoint an "Activities Chairperson" to take care of social events such as this. It is provided for in the club by-laws.
On the matter of resuming fish fries in October, George, N9UGG volunteered to check on getting Schusslers for a Friday next month. A date and time will be announced on the repeater.
Eric, KG9GH commented on the new antenna for the 147.270 Green Bay repeater. With that new antenna, signals are much improved in the M&M area. Their PASS net (Packerland Amateur Skywarn Society) is held on the 1st and 3rd Tues. of each month.
Election of officers was the next major item of business. The slate of officers was presented after nominations from the floor brought no response. Bob, AA9GZ moved to accept the slate of officers as presented and recommended by the nominations committee...seconded by Lynne, N8OSK. Motion approved. Officers for the 2003-2004 year are:
President: Dave Cunningham, NS9R
Vice Pres: Dwight Bossellman, W9YQ
Secretary: Jim Callow, K8IR
Treasurer: Tom Rynish, N8LHB
No further business was presented...Lynne moved the meeting be adjourned, seconded by Val, KC8WAI.
